PREPARE BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT

Save the Texas guide for offline reading.

The member guide can be saved to your device while you have a connection. Complete the save, test it without a signal, and know when you will need to sign in again.

Save a complete copy

  1. Connect to the internet and sign in. Open the Texas Field Guide from your account home.
  2. Open Settings → Offline & updates.
  3. Choose Save complete guide offline / check updates and keep the page open until it says “Guide updated and saved.”
  4. Disconnect briefly and reopen a statute to confirm this device can read the saved copy.

The guide's content and any ordinance packs saved on that device are available only after they have finished downloading. A new device or browser needs its own save.

The 14-hour access window

Guide access ends 14 hours after the last full sign-in, including when the guide is saved offline. A background update does not extend that deadline. Reconnect and sign in again to reopen the guide after it locks. Trial, subscription, or account status can end access sooner.

Free lifetime access removes the subscription and payment requirement, but it does not remove the 14-hour sign-in window.

What still needs a connection

  • Signing in and restoring access after the 14-hour window.
  • Opening external legal source websites and opinion links.
  • Checking for a newer guide or downloading a new ordinance pack.

Browser or device policy can clear saved data. Before an assignment where coverage may be unreliable, check the saved guide on the actual device you will use.

Read with the source in mind

Offline text is a saved reference copy. Laws and court decisions can change after it was saved. When a connection is available, check for guide updates and verify the current source and agency policy before relying on an entry.
