READ THE SOURCE
Texas legal reference with a path back to its sources.
The guide is organized to help officers find material quickly and inspect its context. Its links and labels help readers verify a provision or opinion; they do not replace checking the current authority.
Texas statutes and rules
State Codes brings together Texas statute collections such as the Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Transportation Code, and Health and Safety Code. The reader presents section text with linked definitions and cited provisions when available, so a term can be read with its stated scope. The guide also has rule collections for DPS and TCOLE.
Each source link points back to its respective source. For an independent starting point, the Texas Constitution and Statutes site lists the current state codes. Check the linked source and effective-date or version label on the entry you are reading.

Case law and legal reference
Case-law cards are grouped by topics and situations. Cards link to their own Justia opinion pages where a direct page is available. Legal Reference also includes doctrines and Bill of Rights material. Summaries help a reader locate a source; the opinion and current law control over a short card.

Local ordinance packs
Frisco, Prosper, and Little Elm packs can be downloaded from the member Local Ordinances page. Their entries retain source links and belong to the selected city; a downloaded pack appears in the guide on that device. Municipal rules can change independently of state law, so open the source when currency matters.
Updates and corrections
The member home lists recent Texas guide updates. When the guide is saved offline, its Offline & updates setting checks for a newer complete copy. Wait for “Guide updated and saved” before disconnecting, then test the guide without a connection. Source websites still require internet.
If you notice a citation, wording, or link that needs review, use Feedback in the guide or contact support. Include the page and section so the issue can be located.
The LEO Field Guide is reference material, not legal advice. It does not determine enforcement authority or whether a rule applies to a particular incident. Verify current authority and follow agency policy.
